Valdres
The Valdres valley is perfectly suited for people who prefer to spend their holiday in an unspoilt natural area. Valdres is located in the heart of Norway, 100 miles away from Oslo, 185 miles from Trondheim and 185 miles from Bergen. In the middle of the Valdres area one finds the village of Fagernes that offers beautiful tours in all directions. In the North Valdres borders the Jotunheimen National Park. To the west one arrives at Fillefjell, near Sognefjord. In the east are the foothills of Jotunheimen, the Gaus valley as well as Vestfjell and Synnfjell. In the south Valdres borders a region called Ringerike. Around Valdres one can make the most beautiful hikes, for instance in Ormtjernkampen, Norway’s smallest National Park. Furthermore there are plenty of possibilities for fishing, rafting, mountaineering and canoeing. If you want to know more about the region, we suggest you visit the Valdres Folkemuseum in Fagernes. Important cultural highlights are the stave churches in the region. Last but not least Valdres is strongly developing its winter sports facilities e.g. in Aurdal and Beitostølen.
